Durrës Amphitheatre
The largest Roman amphitheatre in the Balkans was built in the second century in the ancient city of Dyrrachium and lay buried for centuries beneath a residential quarter. A small Christian chapel with frescoes and mosaics was later created inside its pagan arena.
