The Octagon

The Octagon, Dunedin

Laid out in 1846 by surveyor Charles Kettle, this eight-sided plaza forms the civic heart of Dunedin. Ringed by Victorian landmarks and centred on an 1887 statue of poet Robert Burns, it gathers cafes, festivals and city life beneath the cathedral.
