Port Chalmers
Dunedin's deep-water port on Otago Harbour, Port Chalmers received the first settlers in 1848 and launched the first frozen-meat shipment to Britain in 1882. It served gold-rush traffic and Antarctic expeditions led by Scott and Shackleton.
