Delphi, Greece
Corycian Cave

A great limestone cavern high on Mount Parnassus above Delphi, at around 1,250 metres. Sacred to Pan and the Corycian nymphs, it drew shepherds and Dionysian revellers for millennia and yielded thousands of votive offerings, including some 22,000 sheep and goat knucklebones.
