# Monastery of Santa Clara-a-Velha

Coimbra, Portugal

A Gothic monastery refounded in 1314 by Queen Elizabeth of Aragon and consecrated in 1330. Flooded for centuries by the Mondego and abandoned in 1677, it was excavated and reopened in 2009 as a striking riverside ruin.
