Drayton Hall

Drayton Hall, Charleston

Drayton Hall, built between 1747 and 1752 by John Drayton, is a rare surviving example of Palladian architecture in America. The only Ashley River plantation house to outlast both the Revolution and the Civil War, it stands unrestored, preserved almost exactly as time left it.
