Lake of Tunis

The Lake of Tunis is a shallow lagoon of about 37 square kilometers between Tunis and the sea. Strategic since Punic times, it holds Chikly island and its Spanish fort, draws flamingos, and is crossed by a 19th-century causeway to La Goulette.
