Heliopolis

Heliopolis is a planned garden suburb northeast of central Cairo, founded in 1905 by Belgian industrialist Edouard Empain. Its broad boulevards, arcaded apartment blocks and ornate palaces blend Moorish, Persian and European design into a distinctive early-twentieth-century cityscape.
