Al-Hakim Mosque

Begun in 990 and completed in 1013, Al-Hakim Mosque is one of Cairo's great Fatimid monuments, named for a famously enigmatic caliph. Its fortress-like walls, two stone-encased minarets, and vast marble courtyard reward unhurried exploration.
