Al-Azhar Park

Al-Azhar Park, opened in 2005 by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, turned a centuries-old rubble dump into 30 hectares of gardens above Historic Cairo. Excavation revealed a buried twelfth-century Ayyubid wall, and terraces open sweeping city views.
