Old Corner Bookstore

Old Corner Bookstore, Boston

Built in 1718 as a home and apothecary, this brick corner building became the heart of American letters when the publisher Ticknor and Fields worked here, printing Emerson, Hawthorne, and Longfellow. Saved from demolition in 1960, it survives on the Freedom Trail.
