# Porte Cailhau

A fairy-tale city gate built from 1493 to 1496, thirty-five meters of turrets, machicolations and conical slate roofs facing the Garonne. Conceived as both defence and triumphal arch, it celebrates King Charles VIII's victory at Fornovo in 1495.
