Berlin, Germany
Neukoelln

A southern working-class borough once called Rixdorf, settled by Bohemian Protestant refugees in 1737 and renamed Neukölln in 1912. Long one of Berlin's poorest and most immigrant quarters, its northern streets have become a magnet for artists, nightlife and a rapid wave of gentrification.
