# Red Mosque

Berat, Albania

One of the oldest mosques on Albanian soil, it was built within Berat Castle for the military garrison immediately after the Ottoman conquest of fourteen seventeen. It took its name from its red bricks, rich in iron oxide; today, only its ruined foundations remain.
