### 1. Lead Mosque

- Local name: Xhamia e Plumbit

- In one line: A mid-16th-century Ottoman mosque in Mangalem, whose name comes from the lead sheets that Ragusan craftsmen laid over its brick dome. It survived the atheist era as a cultural monument and today functions once again for the faithful after restoration by TIKA.

### 2. King's Mosque

- In one line: The oldest Ottoman mosque in Berat, completed in 1492 under Sultan Bayezid II, stands out for its ceiling of ten painted wooden domes with gold stars on blue and its slender, many-sided minaret rising above the rooftops of Mangalem.

### 3. Halveti Tekke

- In one line: A Sufi tekke of the Halveti order in the Mangalem quarter, completed in 1782 at the commission of Ahmet Kurt Pasha, known for its carved wooden ceiling, considered the masterpiece of the Ottoman woodcraft in Albania.

### 4. Berat Ethnographic Museum

- In one line: The Llavda House, a three-century-old home of a family of major landowners, turned into the National Ethnographic Museum in 1979. It preserves around 1,300 objects of Berat's folk culture beneath wooden ceilings carved with floral motifs.

### 5. Mangalem Quarter

- In one line: Berat's historic Muslim quarter, clinging to the right slope of the Osum below the castle, known for the stacked-window facades that gave the city the name City of a Thousand Windows. During the Second World War, its families hid Jews from the Nazi occupation.

- In one line: A small 14th-century Byzantine church set directly on the southern rock of Berat castle, with an inscribed-cross plan and cloisonné masonry. The difficulty of reaching it has protected it from the changes of time.

- In one line: Berat's historic Orthodox quarter facing Mangalem, linked to it by the stone bridge over the Osum, with the still-active churches of Saint Spyridon and Saint Thomas, part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

### 8. Gorica Bridge

- Local name: Ura e Goricës

- In one line: An Ottoman stone bridge with 7 asymmetrical arches, built around 1780 by order of Ahmet Kurt Pasha over the Osum River. It links the Mangalem and Gorica quarters and today serves pedestrians only, after more than 2 centuries of use.

- In one line: A castle inhabited without interruption for more than 24 centuries, with walls that preserve Illyrian, Byzantine, Despotate of Epirus and Ottoman layers. Rare in Europe, it still shelters around 300 residents among Byzantine churches and Ottoman mosques, and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

### 10. Red Mosque

- In one line: One of the oldest mosques on Albanian soil, raised within the castle of Berat immediately after the Ottoman conquest of 1417 for the military garrison. It took its name from the red bricks rich in iron oxide; today it survives as a ruined base.

### 11. Holy Trinity Church

- In one line: An early-fourteenth-century Byzantine church at the southern corner of the castle of Berat, linked to Andronikos Angelos Palaiologos as patron in a contested chronology (1302–26 according to the church article, 1327–28 according to the personal biography) during the Palaiologan Renaissance. It is distinguished by its opus mixtum masonry, columns reused from an earlier temple, and restored frescoes.

### 12. Onufri Museum

- In one line: A national iconographic museum opened in 1986 inside the Church of the Dormition of Saint Mary in the castle of Berat. It holds 173 exhibited objects: 106 icons and 67 liturgical objects, with a focus on the works of Onufri, the great Albanian painter of the sixteenth century, known for his psychological realism and his unique red.

### 13. Cathedral of the Dormition

- Local name: Katedralja e Ngjitjes

- In one line: Berat's new Orthodox cathedral, raised between 2002 and 2014 on the foundations of a nineteenth-century church demolished by the communist regime, and consecrated by Archbishop Anastas Janullatos in the birthplace of the primate Kristofor Kisi.

### 14. Mount Tomorr

- Local name: Mali i Tomorrit
- Coordinates: 40.709088888, 20.141802777
- In one line: The most imposing mountain of southeastern Albania, with a peak at 2416 metres (Çuka e Partizanit), a cult site since Illyrian times and today the holiest centre in the world of the Bektashi order. On the southern slope stands the Kulmak Tekke, where every August thousands of pilgrims climb up for the feast of Ashura.

- In one line: A karst canyon twenty-six kilometres long, carved by the Osum over two to three million years, with walls up to eighty metres high and a bed that narrows to one and a half metres.
