Wat Traimit (Temple of the Golden Buddha)
In Bangkok's Chinatown, Wat Traimit guards a Sukhothai-era Buddha of solid gold, about 3 meters tall and weighing roughly 5.5 tonnes. Hidden for centuries beneath plaster, it was revealed by accident in 1955 when dropped during a move.
