Takapuna

Takapuna, Auckland

Takapuna is a North Shore beach suburb beside the volcanic Lake Pupuke, its sands facing Rangitoto and hiding an ancient fossil forest. A Victorian resort turned commercial hub, it boomed after the 1959 Harbour Bridge and inspired writers Frank Sargeson and Janet Frame.
