Panathenaic Stadium

Panathenaic Stadium, Athens

The only stadium in the world built entirely of marble, rebuilt in Pentelic marble by Herodes Atticus around 144 CE and restored for the first modern Olympic Games of 1896. Its horseshoe of white seats still hosts the Olympic flame handover.
