Vleeshuis (Butchers' Hall)

Vleeshuis (Butchers' Hall), Antwerp

A late-Gothic guild hall raised between 1501 and 1504 for Antwerp's powerful butchers' corporation. Its banded brick and sandstone walls earned it the nickname bacon house. Once the city's regulated meat market, it later became a museum of the city's music and sound.
