Sint-Jansvliet Square

Sint-Jansvliet Square, Antwerp

A small square near the Scheldt, named after the oldest known Antwerp vliet, a medieval waterway dug around 1200 and later filled in. Its quiet plane trees shelter the right-bank entrance to the Sint-Annatunnel, the pedestrian tunnel running under the river since 1933.
