Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos site)
The site of the ancient Pharos, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Built under the Ptolemies in the 3rd century BCE and towering over 100 metres, it guided ships for centuries before earthquakes felled it; its stones now lie in the Citadel of Qaitbay.
